How do you edit a citation used at the beginning or middle of a sentence. Eg. ‘Cardozo et al. (2005) found that etc…’
Rather than ‘(Cardozo et al., 2005) found that…’
When edited manually, these changes are not saved the next time the document is opened.

You must right click on the reference and edit citation - remove author and then type in the Cardozo et al part. Alternatively you can work in unformated mode and cut the author out of the curley brackets and past in front and type in the et al.
