# EndNote X/ consumes huge amounts of CPU time

At least on my Mac (Mac OS X, 10.8.5) EndNote X7 consumes huge abounts of CPU time (see attached screen photo). This reduces substantially my MacBook’s battery runtime. Is there anything I can do about this?
