how to remove brackets from a series of references in the main text

Hi I am using vancouver style reference system

In places I have a series of references and they are showing as e.g.,

(6); (7); (8); (9)

rather than (6-9)

When I try and change it manually some of the references get deleted…

How can I change this?

You need to ensure there are no spaces between the refs, when the citations are entered.  This may be controlled by “paste” settings that are globally set in Word.
