Marking posts as "solved"

I am new to this forum , my wife and I have Endnote. I have a mac and she has a PC.

As I am upgrading to X3 for both of us I thought I would look through the forum and see what issues might come up.

I have noticed that there are some posts with a green “Solved” tag that I assume only modarators can add.

However I have read many posts that do resolve the initial question, often the person seems quite happy.

There does not seem to be a marker for “open issues”

I like the green “solved” marker and I think that or something like it should be added to any thread that is happly closed and that maybe a yellow one for things “resolved” that is “here is the best answer - even if it does not really make one happy” and some way for threads that are still open to be easily seen.

That is just a suggestion from a new user - you may already ways to do this and I did not see it.

For now I intend to give kudos to any post that I find that seems to resolve a question with a happy outcome.

I believe that only the original poster of the problem can mark a thread as solved.  I don’t believe that the moderators can do so. I too use the kudo as a type of recognition.  I also use the tags so I can find a post that has previously been solved before, to provide a convenient link to a new similar query. This forum has gotten so large, that I agree finding things in it, is not easy.  I  google which often is better at finding a relevant post.
