New field wanted for Abstract URL

It is very difficult to reference an abstract using EndNote without either (a) converting to plain text and editing manually; or (b) using a custom reference type which is a solution for the advanced user, but quite complicated for the average user, and in any case using a single reference type for abstracts wouldn’t always work well since journal articles, reports, theses and conference papers can all have abstracts and yet they all require different elements in the reference.

A simpler solution would be to introduce a new field ‘Abstract URL’ that can be used for a variety of existing reference types, so that Endnote could easily handle references such as these ones in the Publication Manual of the APA:

Hare, L. R., & O’Neill, K. (2000). Effectiveness and efficiency in small academic peer groups. Small Group Research, 31, 24-53. Abstract retrieved from Sociological Abstracts database. (Accession No. 200010185)

Lassen, S. R., Steele, M. M., & Sailor, W. (2006). The relationship of school-wide positive behavior support to academic achievement in an urban middle school. Psychology in the Schools, 43, 701-712. Abstract retrieved from http://www.interscience.wiley.com

Liu, S. (2005, May). Defending against business crises with the help of intelligent agent based early warning solutions. Paper presented at the Seventh International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems, Miami, FL. Abstract retrieved from http://www.iceis.org/iceis2005/abstracts_2005.htm

Just a suggestion…
