I have recently had to tidy up a paper being written by a colleague. When working in a numbered style, their preferred method was to copy and paste a growing bibliography near the bottom of the paragrpah they were working on. This was because they liked to see what they had already referenced as they went. They are resistant to the idea of using Word’s split page mechanism as they don’t like losing the screen height and having a static area under the text they are working on.
If the current bibliography could appear in a floating palette, then they could arrange that on the screen to suit them.
