Author error

Some of the references put the author’s full name in when it should just be the last name. Any tips?

Check the “Author Name” setting* of your output style (either the Bibliography or Citations section, depending upon what needs changing).

Also note that changes to the output style will be saved to a new output style file (with the word “Copy” added to the name) so you’ll need to adjust both EndNote and MS Word to use the new output style file.

________

* Go to the EndNote toolbar, select Edit > Output Styles > Edit [name of the style you’re using]

I suspect you have two refs with either the same author, but the name has been entered differently in the two records, so Endnote thinks they are two different authors and it is disambiguating them (is that a word?) or you have two different authors with the same surname.

Anyway, read this page: http://www.library.uq.edu.au/faqs/endnote/initials_in_citation.html  or FAQ3 here on the Endnote website.
