EndNote x7.0.2 (bld 7390) has stopped working

Recently our IT department upgraded our office version from Office 2007 to Office 2010.  Since then, when I attempt to run EndNote, either directly or through Word, the program immediately crashes before it has a chance to start.  I was using EndNote X4, but decided to uninstall this and upgrade to EndNote X7.0.2 (bld 7390), thinking this might solve my problem.  This did not solve the problem, and I am still getting the same error message.

If you have not already done so, I would suggest opening the Control Panel and then Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs depending on your version of Windows. Browse the list until you see EndNote X7 and select Repair. If the problem persists, see if you can open the EndNote X7 Sample Library from the Program Files or Program Files (x86) > EndNote X7 > Examples shortcut folder by double-clicking the file. If you are able to open the sample library, you can then try to open your library. If that fails, you can try repairing your library by following the steps found in this article:

Hi there,

 

I am experiencing the same problem. I already tried repairing EndNote as well as the .enl file. Neither of the two ways of repairing the file made any difference. As soon as I try to open my library, EndNote stops working and shows the following message:

The enl file is about 500kb, the data file 890mb.

Endnote stopping working when doing any operation (for example adding a library) on the laptop of a coleague.

No way to solve the problem. Problem persisting after installing the last version demo. No way.

I ultimately did what is never expected to work and it succeded!

- I installed the old registered version of endnote on the laptop of my colleague, running windows 7

- I deleted the folder containing Endnote in the program folder

- I copied the folder Endonote (same version) from my laptop, running windows 10 anniversary

The problem was fixed. Do not ask me how and why.

Hope that it will be useful for you. Just find a colleague with the same version working!.
