I would approach tech support (fast) if you have no backups. Maybe they back up their cloud?

Maybe a stupid suggestion which you already have checked, but is the references moved to the "Trash" folder or completely deleted? If they still are in the "Trash" you could select all, right click and select "Restore to library".
