References showing up in {} rather than () and not added to the references at the end

Hi guys, does anyone here know why are my references being added up within {} and not the usual ()?

It was fine until a few mins ago, I just tried to combine three word documents together to write my thesis but looks like the references are playing up.

Does anyone know how to fix it, please?

Check in the menu if Instant formatting is turned “Off”. Change to “On” and problem is solved. You can also choose “Update Citations and Bibliography” to get the citations formatted.
