'Sever Execution failed'

I’ve got a new windows device and ever since I’ve had nothing but problems with endnote and word being unable to communicate with each other. 

I keep getting ‘server execution failed’. Yesterday I unistalled and reinstalled endinote twice and that seemed to fix it. But now I’ve had a windows update and the problem ahs come back. Unistalling and reinstalling endnote isn’t helping. 

This never happened with the old version of Endnote. I’m starting to wish I had access to it again instead of Endnote X8

In case anyone else has this problem: What worked for me was addding citations while NOT in track changes mode. I switched to viewing the document in its original format, and then I could use Endnote as usual.
