Consecutive Citations (Same Author)

My publisher is requiring that consecutive citations by same author (same/different work) use the author’s last name (rather than the full name or idem). Any ideas on whether this is possible in Endnote X8?  I am using SBL style (derived from Chicago).

For example, instead of idem in the second reference, I need to include the author’s last name.

[1]. Emanuel Tov, “Three Manuscripts (Abbreviated Texts?) of Canticles from Qumran Cave 4,” JJS 46 (1995): 88; idem., “Canticles,” in Qumran Cave 4.XI: Psalms to Chronicles, ed. Eugene Ulrich et al., DJD (Oxford: Clarendon, 2000), 195.

I am sure this is possible, but I am not very adept at footnote styles.  The footnotes are set up with long and short versions.  you would need to edit the short version to include the information you need.
