Unfortunately, EndNote currently doesn’t permit simultaneous sorting of two or more fields. However, there is a manual workaround which involves: 1) creating a custom field which will be used to hold both the author name and document number; 2) copying the author name and document number into the custom field; 3) editing the custom field to retain the first author name while removing subsequent author names; and 4) editing the output style’s bibliography “Sort Order” to sort by the: Custom field + Year + Title. (Note: the Title field may not be needed depending upon your output style and style guidelines.)
