How to merge microsoft word (365 ProPlus) documents- each chapter with references at the end (i.e., not a single reference list)

 Dear Endnote community,

Here is my issue- I am currently trying to compile my dissertation and I need to combine 8 documents into a single document. This document is large and fairly complex with figures, tables, and a whole lot of text.

I also need to have the references for each chapter at the end of each chapter versus compiling them into one, large reference list at the end. Also, each document references the same articles multiple times so I am worried Endnote is going to bug out.

I am currently using Endnote X9.2, build 13018… Microsoft version 365 ProPlus, version 1908, build 11929.20562

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

We do have steps for making bibliographies at the end of each chapter on our website:

If you do need further assitance with the above steps or run into an issue with the steps then please contact Technical Support.

As long as you don’t have other section breaks, you should be able to have each chapter in a section and the bibliography at the end of each Chapter.  This is a setting in the output style  - titled “Sections”.  You can either Choose to create a bibliograph for each section, or at the end or both.
