In-text citation with curly brackets and a number

I am trying to edit my dissertation proposal, and when my new in-text citations look like this:

{Coleman, 1990 #203}

It also doesn’t go to the reference list at the bottom…

What is this and how do I fix it?

I’ve had it happen before and had to copy the whole document, delete all the references, and re-enter them by hand.

Please help?

You just need to enable instant formating on the Endnote ribbon.  Click the dropdown to the bottom left of highlighted region and select “turn instant fomating on”.   You shouldn’t ever have had to do a manual fix?
