In text citations at the beginning of a text

I am having difficulty adding a reference that is not in parenthesis. For example, when I insert a reference at the beginning of a text, the citation looks like (Jones & Jones, 2001). Is there a way to add the the reference with without parenthesis around the author without having to retype the author? Ie.g. Jones and Jones (2001)?

No there isn't, unless you want it to happen all the time.  Then you would edit your style "citation" to look like this:  Author (Year)  instead of  (Author, Year)
