Lost connection with Endnotes library

Greetings,

I am using Endnotes 8.2 and Word 2016. I like using Endnotes for in-text citations and the referneces page in APA6. I went to make some updates from my editor from a printed copy and the link between the Word document and Endnotes is gone. Adding new sources creates a new references section in APA6. Any ideas what happened or how to fix? so the references and in-text citations are connected to Endnotes?
