Multiple Referencing for Same Book

hi, need some help here.

Before I upgraded to 8.2, i used to make duplicate references for the same book as I was citing from different pages (I also indicated the different page numbers in my ‘duplicated reference’). Endnote used to recognised the different references based on the different page numbers and will create APA citations like (Smith, 2000a), (Smith 2000b), (Smith, 2000c) and so on.

But after upgrading to 8.2 this doesn’t happen anymore…!

Please help.

thanks

VL

This is extremely unusual, unless you are using a footnote type citation.  Usually in text, one would use cited pages as a part of the citation (Smith et al, 2000 pp 1-3) - and have only one listing in the bibliography.  What style and publication are your writing for?

Thanks for the reply. I am writing a thesis using APA.

Unless your university has variations of APA –

" APA  in-text  citation  style uses the author’s last name and the year of publication, for  example : (Field, 2005). For direct quotations, include the  page  number as well, for example : (Field, 2005, p. 14). For sources such as websites and e-books that have no  page  numbers, use a  paragraph  number…"

the time you use the 2001a, 2001b etc is when the same first author has multiple works in the same year.
