Multiple journal issues in Chicago 17th

Sometimes, journals publish double issues. For example, the following citation:

Michael Allan, “How Adab Became Literary: Formalism, Orientalism and the Institutions of World Literature,” Journal of Arabic Literature 43, no. 2-3 (2012): 172-196.

This citation is straight out of EndNote, unedited. The issue with this, however, is that technically it should says  nos. , with an s, rather than no., since there’s two issues. When I edited the output style to reflect that, this is what I get

Michael Allan, “How Adab Became Literary: Formalism, Orientalism and the Institutions of World Literature,” Journal of Arabic Literature 43, no.^nos. 2-3 (2012): 172-196.

The singular/plural (^) function does seem to work like it does for editor/editors. Is there a workaround?

The use of the Singular / Plural feature is limited to certain fields. This feature can be applied to any field that corresponds to the Generic field for Author, Secondary Author, Tertiary Author, Subsidiary Author, Pages, and Cited Pages.

In your example the field you are using is Issue which not a field that can be used with the Singular / Plural feature.

You could instead enter into the Issue field nos. 2-3 so that it will appear in the document that way.

If you would like to see this feature in a future version of EndNote, You may want to submit a request for a product enhancement on our website.
