Update References in Word File with re-named Endnote library

Hi there, i am using latest Endnote 9 and Word Version on Windows 10 Computer. I have a large file (Dissertation). I cleaned up all references using a new document and saved the libray under a new Name. Now i have the Problem, when i open the original large document together with the new named library the references are not updated. What can i do? Thank you,

I would make a backup of the document first.
