about merging (i.e., ) to citations

hello,

I want ask about something

I have a sentence such as John confused about how to go to school in different ways (i.e., car, bus, and taxi) (Sarah, 2020)

it should be like this?

John confused about how to go to school in different ways (i.e., car, bus, and taxi; Sarah, 2020)

or

John confused about how to go to school in different ways, i.e., car, bus, and taxi (Sarah, 2020)

my friend told me I have to put i.e., in the same parentheses with the writer’s name.

this is just an example

please I need answer my report should be done today

Guess I am too late, but you right click in the citation itself, would choose edit citation>more and add the text

i.e., car, bus, and taxi;

including the trailing space into the prefix using the desktop version of Endnote.

Note there is no eay to italicize the i.e. though, as word doesn’t allow text formating in the field.
