I want ask about something 

I have a sentence such as John confused about how to go to school in different ways (i.e., car, bus, and taxi) (Sarah, 2020)

it should be like this?

John confused about how to go to school in different ways (i.e., car, bus, and taxi; Sarah, 2020)

or

John confused about how to go to school in different ways, i.e., car, bus, and taxi (Sarah, 2020)

my friend told me I have to put i.e., in the same parentheses with the writer’s name.

this is just an example
