Guess I am too late, but you right click in the citation itself, would choose edit citation>more and add the text
i.e., car, bus, and taxi;
including the trailing space into the prefix using the desktop version of Endnote.
Note there is no eay to italicize the i.e. though, as word doesn’t allow text formating in the field.
