Re: EndNote Web Product Suggestions Forum

Dear EndNote Web,

We have run into a problem where if we have the full version of EndNote Installed on our Student/Staff Desktops when you save an EndNote file from an information provider it automatically opens up EndNote instead of saving to desktop and giving you the option of importing into either EndNote or EndNote web. In particular as we have a site licence for both EndNote and a subscription to ISI WOS we would like to have the option of differentiating use between researchers (Full EndNote) and Undergraduate (EndNoteWeb).

Does anyone else think this is a problem - at the moment we have only identified Ovid but are ther other Information Providers where this is an issue?

Best Wishes

Dear Endnote Web

I fully support Matt’s comments.  The opening of the full version of Endnote by default is a real problem for taught undergraduate users wanting to utilise the ‘lighter’ funtionality of Endnote Web whilst on campus.  Purchasers of the full version of Endnote (like our institution) are disadvantaged compared to those with access to WoS hosted Endnote Web only.

I would welcome speedy development in this area.

Hello,

The latest EndNote Web browser plug-ins now provide greater flexibility when importing records from data providers. For anyone who uses the EndNote Web toolbar for Internet Explorer, they will be prompted to pick EndNote or EndNote Web. For those using the EndNote Web toolbar for Firefox, EndNote Web is the default destination for these file types but that preference can be disabled in the EndNote Web Add-on’s Options.
