creating duplicate records to use as templates

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to duplicate a reference to use as a template for a number of references? Eg,  if you want to create references for a number of chapters from one book, or  a number of papers from the same conference proceedings? It would speed things up alot for me

thanks, Priscilla

Sure.  Just copy it and paste it, then change it.

I didn’t quite get the question…

Oh, yes I got it. Yes, do exactly Leanne said.

thanks Leanne and Myoshigi. I’m probably being dense, but I can’t see how to do that. I would be very grateful if you could tell me the steps. When I try to do a copy and paste, I right click the ref in the library window and copy it, open a new reference and right click paste - but it pastes everything into one field. I can’t see how to make it paste data into the same fields it came out of. I’m probably missing something very basic. Thank you for your help and your patience! regards, Priscilla

Sorry for not being clear.

You do the ctrlC in the library view.  Then ctrl V in the library view.  Now there are two, and you open the second one to enter or alter the fields that need to be changed.

cool! thanks very much. That will save me so much time!
