Endnote X9 in-text citation differentiation (Mac OS X Catalina)

Hi all

I’m trying to introduce some nuance into the in-text citation style.

The journal for which I’m preparing a paper would like the in-text citation to use a reference’s title to disambiguate, rather than author.

However, the citation model in the Edit Style boxes only allows me to describe one kind of title. This means that I can either have it italicised, or not italicised. There is no option for using inverted commas (for journal articles or book sections, e.g.).

For example, I would like:

Agamben says that to use bodies is a bad idea (Use of Bodies, 24).

Banville recommends reading Einstein (‘Physics and Fiction’, 12).

But I get either:

Agamben says that to use bodies is a bad idea (Use of Bodies, 24).

Banville recommends reading Einstein (Physics and Fiction, 12).

Or:

Agamben says that to use bodies is a bad idea (‘Use of Bodies’, 24).

Banville recommends reading Einstein (‘Physics and Fiction’, 12).

Is there a way round this?

Thanks very much.

Not really.  Unless you create a new field for every single record with a custom field with exactly what you want to appear.  You will need to ask the journal/publisher to request this functionality as Clarivate doesn’t provide a mechanism for users to request output functionality like this.
