changing citation format

Hi

How do I remove brackets from a citation using the APA style?  For example, let’s say I have a reference Smith et al. 1990.  I can cite this in my document as either (Smith et al. 1990) or Smith et al (1990).  I would like to cite Smith et al. 1990.  This is so I can directly direct the reader to a reference within brackets, e.g., (see Smith et al. 1990 for further discussion).  I have tried different options within endnote but can’t find something that works.

Kind regards, Alexa.

You can use prefix and suffix to achieve this.
Write “see " in prefix, and " for further discussion” in suffix (note the spaces).
