Cannot perform online search (RM12) after Pubmed's facelift (server name could not be resolved)

Happy New Year everybody

After Pubmed’s recent facelift, I have problems with doing online searches with RM12 - always getting the “The server name or address could not be resolved” error. As this error occured simultaneously in all 3 computers in the lab running RM, and the problem persisted even after the IT dept reinstalled the software, I am pretty sure it has to do with some kind of change to the Pubmed Server settings that came with the facelift.

Anyone here having the same problem? I am sure it is only a couple of changes that need to me made to the server address setting, but I would expect that others already would have reported this. Its been maybe 3 weeks now.

I would appreciate a quick reply on this one.

Thanks

Kostas

I dont want to sound impatient here, but could please someone verify that the problem is reproducible or not on their own PC too? Just to know at least whether it is just on my end.

Works fine for me…

Hello,

We have the same problem. Does anyone have the solution for it?

Thanks,

Hoang

Sometimes it works, sometimes not.  In some cases it just hangs immediately and times out and then takes a long time to disconnect. Other times it comes up with the number of refs and then disconnects.

I would try changing the server address.

In Reference Manager please try the  following go to Tools  > Internet Search  > click on Hosts next to PubMed  > click on configure hosts  > click on properties  > change server address to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov not http://eutils.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

I would then try your search of PubMed again.

Let us know if you have any questions or if this does not resolve the issue.

We’re having the same problems: simply changing the server adress to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov does not help. Could you supply us with another solution please?

Perhaps we need to alter the

Search: entrez/eutils/esearch.fcgi?db=pubmed

Retrieve: entrez/eutils/efetch.fcgi?db=pubmed&id=%s&retmode=text&rettype=medline

Link URL: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Citation&list_uids=%s

adresses as well?

True true. Same problem here. Exactly the same. Who got a solution?

Same exact problem. No solution…?
