Empty fields and forced separator

I would like to ask for help with a problem that sounds familiar at first hand: The Template in the Bibliography is

Author, Title| (Abbreviation|•Series Volume)|, Place Published| Year.

  1. If the field Abbreviation and Series Volume are NOT empty, everything works as expected.
  2. If the the field Series Volume IS empty, the closing bracket is missing. The expected simple solution would be a forced separator before! =
    Author, Title| (Abbreviation|•Series Volume|)|, Place Published| Year. BUT THEN
  3. If the field Abbreviation and Series Volume are both empty, the bracket will be printed anyway, but shouldn’t.

Any suggestion to fix this? Thank you for your help!

Try

Author, Title|*(|Abbreviation|*Series Volume|)|, Place Published| Year.

assuming “Series Volume” is one field?

  • are “link adjacent” replacements.
I couldn’t test it as I don’t know the style, record type and don’t think I have records with an Abbreviation field.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! It solved the problem :grinning:.
