Endnote goes back to beginning of a reference when reading and highlighting

I am trying to read pdf articles and highlight them in Endnote.  Every couple of pages, Endnote acts like it is doing an autosave and then goes back to the top of the article, losing my place. Anybody have suggestions to turn this off? I am using X8.
