Endnote hungry for processor power

Product : EndNote X8.2 (bld 13302)
Platform : macOS 10.13.4

Hi,

I noticed recently that EndNote regularly uses up to 120% of my processor capabilities (noticed through Activity Monitor) while I’m not actively using it. For example, I would work on a Matlab script on a different Spaces than where Endnote is and I would suddenly hear my MacBook Pro’s fan start ramping up and I would notice my computer’s performances would start decreasing. On those occasions, EndNote would not seem to perform any particular task (no web sync for example), but would still use more than a 100% of my processor capabilities.

Why is this happening? Am I the only one who noticed this recently? Is there a way to avoid this (as this slows down more workflow quite a bit)?

Thanks lot,
