Formatting for in-text citations for multiple reference types

It would be fantastic if EndNote could accomodate different formats for in-text citations for different reference types. As it stands now, every reference type has the same formatting for in-text citations (e.g., (author year) and Author (year)). However, in some situations, such as legal citation, every reference type isn’t handled the same. For example, if you are citing a case, the party names should appear in the text, while for a statute, the title of the act should appear, and books/journals/etc. should have the author’s name. The settings for ‘anonymous works’ are not adequate to handle the various possible scenarios.

Since EndNote can handle different templates for bibliographies according to reference type, why can’t in-text citations do the same?

This change would make it much easier to create output styles for legal citation.
