Using EndNote X4.0.2 (Mac OS)
Hi, I’ve been reading a lot about the journal names/ abbreviations problems that people have, and i’ve figured out how to import the list I need (Chemistry, in my case) in EndNote.
The problem I have, which I’m not sure is common or not, is that my endnote library has lots and lots of references, and sometimes the journal title is not spelled exactly the same.
For example, sometimes the Journal title is
"Acta Crystallographica Section B: Structural Science "
but sometimes it is
“Acta Crystallographica Section B-Structural Science”
This slight difference is enough to throw EndNote off and one has an abbreviation, and the other doesnt. This is all well and good and I figured i’d fix the problem by going into the terms list and just adding the abbreviation “Acta Crystallogr. Sect. B: Struct. Sci.” in for both entries in the terms list… but EndNote wont let me put the same abbreviation in (greys out the OK box when the abbreviation matches).
What’s the right way to resolve this problem so that my references, with slightly different journal names all can resolve to the same abbreviation ?
