In my intext citations when I have more that six authors Endnote X1 is correctly putting et al, but it’s adding the ampersand (&) before the et al. How can I stop it from doing this?

I was under the impression that APA only wanted to see (1st author, et al, year) or (1 & 2, year). The first 6 authors, et al is in the reference list. But if that is what you want, then I assume someone tried to edit it and put an & in the Author lists section of the Citations. It should probably look something like the attached
