Automatic save of the reference when closing : reverting to the original settings

Hi!

I inadvertently checked the “Don’t ask me again” box in the pop-up dialog window prompted when closing a reference, but I want to revert to the previous parameters, i.e. being asked if I want to save the changes every time I close a reference. Is there a way to do that? I didn’t see it in the preferences.

Thanks!

You would need to edit the registry to change the setting back to be prompted when closing a reference.

if you don’t feel comfortable with this, please call for Technical Support when you’re in front of the computer and we can walk you through this.

Windows XP

  1. Close all programs.

2, Go to Start then click on Run… type “Regedit” and press Enter

  1. Open the following registry string:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ISI ResearchSoft\EndNote\Preferences

  1. Select the key ShowSaveDialog

  2. Right Click and select Modify.

  3. Change the value data from F to T.

  4. Close the Registry Editor.

Windows Vista or Windows 7

  1. Close all programs.

  2. Go to the start menu. In the search box here, type “regedit” and press enter.

  3. Open the following registry string:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ISI ResearchSoft\EndNote\Preferences

  1. Select the key ShowSaveDialog

  2. Right Click and select Modify.

  3. Change the value data from F to T.

  4. Close the Registry Editor.

If you now open EndNote then edit a reference and close the reference EndNote will not prompt if you want to save the changes.
