After MicroSoft Word (Mac) has been automatically updated (to version 16.8), “Cite While You Write” does not function. Thus, in order to connect EndNote X7.7.1. to Word 2016 (Version 16.8), I followed the follwoing instruction.
(1) Select “Customizer” from the EndNote menu
(2) Check the box in front of the “Cite While You Write” option.
However, after (2), I’ve got the error message, saying that “The Customizer could not find Microsoft Word 2008, 2011 nor 2016 installed on this computer”.
I am not sure why it did not work. I installed EndNote via my University software library (“Microword” is in my Finder). Any suggestion?
Apple released a major update for Word 2016 for users on the Fast Insider Track version. This has been labeled 16.x where the current standard release is 15.x.
EndNote X7 is not compatible with that version of Word.
You will need to roll back your version of Word and you can find links to the latest stable standard (as opposed to Office Insider Program) release here:
