Endnote 21 Bugs and Other Problems

So there is actually no way of knowing if they are taking bugs or suggestions up for consideration?

Well, I would suggest that Clarivate staff do read the forum but… Looking at the user comments, they don’t seem to take a lot of notice. That said, I have had a response from a staff member on the forum, as it was something that had already been sorted.

The reality is no developer or person assigned to read the forum is going to be permitted to comment on bugs, new features, roadmaps etc. This is true for all companies. Not just Clarivate.

That said, some companies, though there are few of them, do let support staff comment on forums. However, it does tend to be designated people only, with a degree of restriction on what they can and can’t say.

If you are looking for a perfect world, you picked the wrong planet.

I have interacted with developers over the years. The last time was when they were demoing EN2020 and I protested in feedback and they reached out. Most of my productive interactions were before Clarivate took over, and when the previous two companies actually included customers as beta testers – which ended with X7 version – Last communication was in Apr 2017 on the X8 version (which was transferring from ThomsonReuters to Clarivate by then). In fact it appears the transfer was in Oct 2016 Acquisition of the Thomson Reuters Intellectual Property and Science Business by Onex and Baring Asia Completed - Clarivate

So the last time you had interaction with EndNote teams was over 7 years ago.… I did have some interaction in the last couple of years on two things. But they were things Endnote had already sorted and could give me an easy positive answer.

I am unlikely to continue upgrading Endnote, I have been on it since V8 (not X8) and there does not seem to be a great deal of development, a few tweaks, but it seems as much functionality has gone as arrived, and they don’t seem to be listening to the users.

I can only assume it is because a lot of their users are institutions that will automatically upgrade, and it is a bit of a cash cow. I can understand this strategy as a business but I am a user.

Good luck with that one. 21 isn’t stable on new macs, either.

I totaly agree, it is rediculous in the 21th century not to have a library on a server, cloud or just an external drive.
