Field 12, Reprint Status, not saving data

I have ProCite 5 and am using WinXP Pro. I’ve had no problems for years until a few months ago when I realised Procite was not saving the Reprint Status, field 12, on my latest records. The Date option which is part of the Reprint Status line works but the not Reprint Status part.

The Adept Scientific Procite list shows 3 threads with messages in 2003 and 2004 about this problem with on definite solution. Some writers say it is due to a conflict with a hardware driver (one says it’s a Logitech Wireless Optical Mouse, another with a Watcom graphic tablet, and another with a Kinsington wireless pocket mouse) and others say it doesn’t depend on a driver conflict at all.

I’ve had a Logitech Wireless mouse for many years so I don’t think the conflict is with it. I’d rather not have to go through and uninstall drivers one by one to try and find out which is conflicting with Procite so, my questions are:

(1) Is there any solution to the Field 12, Reprint Status, problem? Any patch coming from Thomson Scientific?

(2) There’s also an additional bug where Field 12 in the Conference Proceedings Workform is not “Reprint Status” but “Date of Meeting” and there is no “Reprint Status” field.

Any help out there?

K. Chung (P.S. as with many Procite users, I’m annoyed that there is no work done on upgrading this good product.)

Correction. My Logitech Cordless mouse’s driver IS conflicting with Procite 5. Perhaps the conflict has been going on longer than I realised!! When I removed the Logitech SetPoint software, Field 12 (Reprint Status) worked again (i.e. saved the data I entered).

Can this conflict be fixed? I like my Logitech LX Cordless mouse!!!
