Importing references while leaving out duplicates

In EndNote X9, how can I merge the references from one library into another while leaving out those references that already exist in the target library?

Easy on the Desktop –

Windows version instructions. There is a file>import menu – choose the “file” import option where you designate Import Option: Endnote Library, and “discard Duplicates” (or you can import duplicates into a separate library). They choose/browse your other endnote library you want to import.

Apple computers may have the option somewhere else, but similar options should be there.
