Issue with multiple author output

I looked through the forum and did not see a post specific to the issue I am having. There were a few similar, but none addressed my problem.  I apologize if this was already posted and I missed it.

I am having a problem in EndNote X4 for Mac with the output for multiple authors.  When I put in the authors (either on a single line or on separate lines) the output will combine the two authors’ names.  I have gone into the style manager and tried to fix the delimiters, but that does not seem to solve the problem. The only way I can get the authors names to come out correctly is to place an additional comma in between the first author’s first name and the second author.  The problem is that this additional comma then gets in inserted into the output.

Here is what I am inputing in the author field:

Roberts, Bruce and Ray Jones (or Roberts, Bruce, and Ray Jones)

Here is the output (Chicago 15th A - Footnote):

Bruce and Ray Jones Roberts (or Bruce Roberts, and Ray Jones)

Any help on understanding this would be greatly appreciated.  I have not tried the other multiple author books, but I have a few that will be cited.

I suggest that the authors be entered into the author field in the record one per line (it has to be a separate line for each author) as

Roberts, Bruce

Jones, Ray

If that doesn’t work, the fault lies in the output style.  Did you alter that?  What style are you using, and can you attach it to the forum.  are you putting the “and” in the author field too?  If you are trying to force the style to export as full names, that too is controlled in the output style author formating.  There are tutorials on editing styles if you prefer.  You could download the books from a library or the library of congress to avoid having to enter them by hand.

I have tried entering the authors on separate lines and still get the same output.  When I had them on a single line, I did put “and” in between.  I have not edited the output style for this particular issue. I am using the default settings.

I am having lots of difficulty with the EndNote X4 for MAC style editing.  It is not saving my style changes and I am contacting tech support per the suggestion in another question I asked.
