Problem: A "Sync" error has occurred (504).

Hi,

I tried many things but since I also could not find any more information online, I decided to give it a try by posting it here.

I am currently working with EndNote X6 (licensed by my host university, inlcuding all new updates) on a Mac (10.6.8) and I am using EndNote Web as a cloud to have my whole library accessible on the EndNote ipad App.

It worked perfectly fine - I had a perfect copy of all my stuff on the iPad! I don’t know what I changed (just added some more papers and categorized them) and now the sync does not work anymore.

I get this: A “Sync” error has occurred (504).

And this is what the Sync Status says:

EndNote Web Sync Library

Sync Limits

Number of Groups: 5000 (4981 can still be added)
Number of Attachments: 5.00 GB (4.87 GB can still be added)

I don’t find anything online and I don’t understand why it worked before and now just stopped? I also don’t find any explanation to the error code.

Would be very grateful if anyone has any ideas or suggestions!

I don’t have any suggestions but can offer that I just began receiving this message this evening, too.  Perhaps it’s a widespread problem on TR end.

I also got the message this morning, I thought it had something to do with adding too many references at once. I deleted a signficiant portion of references and all of the sudden it synced properly.

I also have been having an issue starting today where the PDFs I bought in are not showing anything beyond the first page. Like they’re there in the thumbnails but when you go to read them there’s just white or grey space. I even tried removing and reattaching PDFs and it’s still like this.  And the PDFs are perfectly fine when I look at them in Preview or in Adobe Reader.
