Same year, same author references

Hi,

So I have two references with the same author and year, so EndNote automatically applies the a and b [e.g. (2020a) and (2020b)]. However, I inserted the reference that comes below on the text before I inserted the one above, meaning that my first paragraph has the 2020b reference and the second has the 2020a. How do I change this so that it is in the correct order? How does EndNote decide how to attribute the letters?

Thanks!

It is usually based on the bibliography sort order, and surprising as it may seem, not on the order cited in the document. You can change it, but publishers actually define this, and not our expectations.  (one of many threads on this, although it is a tough subject to search for, is here: https://community.endnote.com/t5/EndNote-General/Citation-sort-order-for-same-year/m-p/154377/highlight/true#M32448
