Short form for authors/editors in footnotes?

Using EN 21 with a version of Chicago 17 Footnote and I want to show only first author or editor in repeated references. I have it set to do this in the Citations tab and also in the Author and Editor Lists in the Abbreviated Lists in the Footnotes tab (I think that is the one the style will obey), but am not able to reduce the author/ed. lists to the first author/ed. in the repeated instances of the citation. Is there something else one has to do? tx

Fixed it. Not clear how to delete my question here.

Actually, a new related question.

My repeated short form citation in fn reads: “Papadopoulos et al., eds.,” How can I remove “eds.”?

You will need to edit the output syle for that reference type for repeated short form, so that the eds info is “linked” to the field that is empty? using the link adjacent character and separation character. (assuming that is the issue). Look at the way that information is defined in the full citation template.
