Sort order within an individual footnote

I need to sort the citations in each footnote either by year or author. I annot find a way to determine the sort order within a footnote.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

You can sort in the bibliography order if that would help

Thank you. I tried that. It does put the footnotes in alphabetical order but it also changes the format of each reference to that of a bibliography. I am trying to find a way to keep the footnote format, but have them be in alphabetical order.

Appreciate the help.

Footnotes don’t support a Sort Order.
The best option is going to be to go into Edit and Manage Citations within the document, and change the order of the footnotes that appear there, using the Up and Down arrows.
Provided those footnotes are grouped together, you can re-order them within the group.
