Sorting by date + omitting author repetition

I’m using EndNote X3 and citation style “Earth Planetary Science Letters”. I’m looking to sort citations in text by Year first and I can do this by modifying output style to sort by year.

However, I would also like to omit multiple citations by the same author. Even after checking this option in the style, it still seems to repeat authors. I suspect this is because of opting to sort by year. Is there any way I can do both?

Has there really been no solution to this problem for over a year ?!
