Per discussions in forums (for example, see here):  

There has to be a better way to ensure a non-changing label that ensures citations are appropriate linked for customers that share their library or otherwise use the library via syncing on various machines.  It is far too complicated and prone to corruptions and results in a need to tediously relink when forgetting to use the detailed instructions and mechanism described in the KB article:  http://endnote.com/kb/131973
