X6 selection jumping to random record after saving a change

I’ve had this problem for a while now, but it is finally bugging me enough to ask for help.  I’ll make a change to a record in Endnote X6 (such as changing the year or author name), and when I save the changes the selected record jumps to what seems like a totally random record.  Any ideas on what might be causing this, and how to fix it?

Hi Kevin,

This may be just a setting you need to change. In Word for Windows, on the EndNote tab bibliography section, click the format bibliography arrow in the lower right corner. On the format bibliography tab uncheck “link in text citations to references in the bibliography”.

In Word for Mac, the same setting is under tools, EndNote, bibliography settings.
