Author name in main text

Help!

I the body text of my thesis I reference all authors in the standard format (Griffin, 2000). However, one name (all his references) comes up as (Ralph D. Stacey, 2000). If I try in a brand new Word document it comes up correctly as (Stacey, 2000).

What have I done wrong?
