Can EndNote find references in a word document (with no field codes)?

Hi, I have a large document without tracked citations. I would like to convert it into a document with EndNote citations. Is there any automated way to do this? Journals seem to be able to during the submission process.

Hi,

Typically, EndNote requires manual conversion of plain-text references, and specialised software used by journals isn’t usually public. However, exceptions may exist.
