Over the last couple of weeks, when I close Endnote 20.5 (Bld 16860) on my Windows 10 computer, it quickly re-opens itself, sometimes asking for me to designate a database file to open. How do I stop it from re-opening itself???

I am having the same problem. I have to close Endnote at least three times before it stays closed.
Also happening to me… Wondering if it is the Sync still running?
BTW does anyone from Clarivate actually read and or comment on these forums?

This is happening to me also. EndNote 20.5 Bld 16860 on Windows 10 reopens after I close it. Sometimes two or three times. I don’t get an error message.

Since the last update, I’ve had this issue too with EN 20.5

Add another user to the list. EndNote should send a notice to everyone so they know it’s not their individual circumstance.

This is happening to me as well. I’d love for this to be fixed.
This has also been happening to me every time I close EndNote since the 20.5 update. It doesn’t matter if I close using the x in the upper right corner or use Exit in the file menu. The only way I can stop it from reopening is to do Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Task Manager and end the process there. I have Windows 11.

If it is a new problem in 20.5 ( I upgraded from 17 to 20.5 in one go recently) they will know what code has changed. I would hope that they will fix it for 20.6 in a month or so?
Yes this is also happening for me with Endnote 20.5. It’s irritating, I hope they will fix it.

Same here, BUT I’ve found the solution is to ensure Outlook and/or Word are closed before you exit EndNote (note Outlook uses Word as its default editor, so presumably it’s the dependency on Word here).
